What is HomeLink®?

Chevy Dashboard with HomeLink

HomeLink® is a wireless control system, allowing you to access the technology part of your home as you sit inside your Chevy vehicle. With HomeLink®, you can easily open and close garage doors or automatic gates, turn on or off home security systems, and even switch on or off all electronics in your Bryan home. Learn more about the perks of this system and how you can program this system below from Allen Samuels Chevrolet GMC!

What are the Perks of HomeLink®?

For a deeper dive into “What is HomeLink®?” let’s break down why you should make the most of the system as a Chevy owner:

  • Easy to Use – Sometimes, we forget to turn on or off certain technology as we are rushing to head out in the College Station area. However, with HomeLink®, you won’t need to run back into your home– you can just click a few buttons in your car!
  • Compatible – If you’re wondering if a device works with this system, chances are it probably does. HomeLink® works with almost all garage door openers and gate systems along with a list of other radio-frequency (RF) controlled devices.
  • Control Up to 3 Devices – You can choose up to 3 devices to connect to this system for even more access!
  • More Safety & Security – Ever had that feeling after you left your house that you forgot to close the gate or activate the security system? You can double-check on the HomeLink® app even when you’re far away. Most compatible garage door openers can also alert you through the system if the door is left open.
  • Battery-Free – Powered by the electrical system in your Chevy, you won’t have to keep up with switching out batteries, so you can use this system at all times.

How Do I Program HomeLink®?

Chevy owners who have previously programmed HomeLink® can tell you that the process is a breeze! Take a look at how you set up your garage door opener to this system below:

  1. The HomeLink® unit has 3 buttons and is usually on the ceiling of the car above the center console. Once you’ve located the unit, press and hold down the first and third buttons until the interior lights of your Chevy start to flash. Be patient as this will typically take about 20 seconds. (Note: After adding your first device, you won’t need to press the first and third buttons again for other device setups as these are the button combination to the master reset.)
  2. Once the ceiling lights start to flash, press and hold the button you want to program for this device while holding the open/close button on your garage door opener at the same time. The lights should go from a slow to rapid flash when the programming is finished.
  3. Enter into your garage and press the “learn” button on your garage door opener.
  4. Go back to your Chevy and press the programmed button on your car for at least two seconds. The lights on your garage door opener may flash, showing that it is connecting.
